Ian Faris

Ian Faris is the President & CEO of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

Ian oversees the daily operations of the Ottawa Chamber including advocacy activities with Government, stakeholder relations, policy, research, the development of member services and he acts as the spokesperson for the organization. In addition, Ian is responsible for the implementation of strategic priorities and activities identified and mandated by the Ottawa Chamber Board and its governance organizations.

Prior to joining the Ottawa Chamber, Ian was President & CEO of a national trade industry association and a senior executive with an international public affairs consulting firm in Ottawa, specializing in government relations and strategic communications.

In addition, Ian has enjoyed successful careers in the corporate sector and as an advisor to two federal cabinet ministers.

On behalf of the Ottawa Chamber, Ian is a member of the Ottawa Tourism Development Council and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Ottawa venue advisory group.

In terms of external activities, Ian is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), President of the Capital Xelles Basketball Club and is a member of the Board of the Hill Charity Fund and the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets Soccer Club – all located in Ottawa, ON. Born in British Columbia, Ian graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston. He is married and has two children.
