Building a comprehensive transportation network requires the government to work with municipalities, the private sector, and the federal government to plan and fund major infrastructure projects. We believe government should:
- Leverage private sector capital and expertise through private-public partnerships (P3s) and alternative financing and procurement (AFP). The private sector has proven that it can design and build major infrastructure projects on budget and on time.
- Make the development of transportation infrastructure in the Ring of Fire a priority. Costs need to be shared between federal, provincial, and municipal governments and their private sector partners.
- Invest in transportation infrastructure in the GTHA. Establish new revenue tools, but ensure that they are dedicated and transparent.
