OCC Response to the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s 2015 Changing Workplaces Review

The Government of Ontario is currently considering a number of changes to the Labour Relations Act (LRA) and the Employment Standards Act (ESA).

In response, the Ontario Chamber Network has provided government with a written submission outlining the business community’s perspective on a series of proposed labour legislation reforms that have dominated public conversation over the past several months.

The Ontario Chamber Network is urging government to consider the economic consequences of any proposed changes to Ontario’s labour laws. We are also urging government to consider the structural changes that the global economy has undergone over the past few decades and to consider the manner in which the LRA and ESA should—or should not—be used to counteract those changes.
